Typically domain naming fees cover a two year period from registration. There are rules which govern the eligibility of applicants for some top level domain extensions. These are detailed fully in the FAQ on domain naming.
Toucan Internet supply POP3 protocol mail boxes which are associated with your top level domain name. They need not be associated with webspace if you only require email services. These can be accessed by any Internet connection and suitable email software such as Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Netscape Messenger, and Eudora. Details of how to configure your email software are to be found in our customer support section of this website. Outbound mail facilities use the standard SMTP protocol.
As an extra benefit to Toucan Internet customers we provide access to ToucanMail. This is a password protected email gateway accessible via any web browser on the Internet. Having ToucanMail gives you access to your email anywhere in the world. This extra service is FREE.
A connection to the Internet is supplied which will accept calls from analogue modems to 56K and ISDN. Call charges are at local rates.
Email Forwarding - Single User
This service will forward all email messages addressed to your top level domain name to one external mail box. For instance if you have a domain name hosted with us, email sent to anyname@yourdomain.co.uk would be forwarded to your email box you@yourco.yourisp.co.uk. This enables clients to put a more professional image by not showing the outside world your internet service provider's name, making you indistinguishable from a multi national business.
Similar benefits as single user forwarding are gained and you have the added benefit that the name is preserved e.g. anyname@yourdomain.co.uk will be forwarded to anyname@yourco.yourisp.co.uk
Email Forwarding - Mapped Addresses
If you need mail sent to different mailbox locations whilst using your top level domain name for all, then this is a practical solution. Email is routed to different mail boxes either on your server at Toucan Internet or to external mail accounts and it is directed according to the name e.g. accounts@yourdomain.co.uk could be delivered to your accounts section in Windsor whilst sales@yourdomain.co.uk could be delivered to the sales section in Edinburgh. Other popular uses of this are for sales people remote from their office.
This service comes with one POP3 mailbox and a 25 mapped addresses.
TrustedMail - Spam and Virus infected email filtering.

- Real time black list filtering(RTBL). Know senders of Spam mail will be blocked

This gives valuable information including overall number of visitors, breakdown by period and page, entry and exit page count so you can see where visitors lose interest, a list of the popular referrers - ideal to see which search engines are performing for you, and a list of the keywords used by visitors who found the site using the search engines. The statistics are available on-line and are updated every 24 hours.

- We analyse your log files for errors which may occur in the delivery of your pages to your audience. Web Forwarding (Web Redirection)It is possible to have multiple domain names point to one website and there are instances where this forms part of the business solution. Toucan Internet offer 'cloaked' forwarding i.e. the website URL displayed in the browser window will always reflect the site initially addressed, it will not revert to the ultimate destination URL.
This services is offered as a standard package for accounts hosted with Toucan Internet. Web forwarding to external websites is available - please ask.
This is the most popular selection of services combined into a competitively costed package. It includes full webserver facilities, email facilities and your Internet connection as detailed above.
Payment is either by monthly standing order or annually by invoice. The annual option offers even further savings.
Getting your website seen is not something which can be left to chance. You may have spent much time and money on generating a professional web presence, but if it remains the world's best kept secret then it can only be considered as failing at the last hurdle. Providing your site is adequately prepared for registration we submit the site to over 400 search engines and can if requested also include over 1400 FFA (Free For All) lists. This is done both manually and using the latest submission software with regularly updated lists. Manual submissions are important as they generally have greater success and this technique is used for the top engines.
Full submission reports are produced and emailed after each session. Since one of the criteria used for search engine inclusion/indexing is the age of the submission it is recommended that the sessions are periodically repeated. Most of Toucan Internet clients establish a standing order for this work.
