Email is still the most widely used Internet service accounting for more than half of all Internet traffic. Initially this was just a means of sending text messages between Internet users however it has been extended by MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) to allow users to transfer any type of electronic file, including graphic images and binary files. Now spreadsheet and wordprocessed documents can be sent with all formatting remaining intact.

Toucan Internet offers an extremely flexible range of options for domain based email (email facilities using your Internet domain).

There are two types of e-mail which can be set up:

• Single email address (name@yourdomain.co.uk)
• Multiple email addresses (anyname@yourdomain.co.uk). This email address option allows you to use any name before your domain name; up to 25 names as standard. You do not need to inform Toucan Internet when you wish to add othe local names.

How to collect your email

There are two methods for collecting email via Toucan Internet. Either way there is no difference in price.

POP3 Account

We can store (queue) your incoming email on our servers. With this option you configure your email software to look on our servers for your mail which gets downloaded directly to your machine using your Internet connection.

Email Forwarding

We can forward all email to an existing email account. So if you have an email account with another Internet service provider, we will simply instruct our servers to send your email to that account. All addressing information is retained so you can tell which of your email addresses each mail message was sent to.

Other Email Services

TrustedMail

Filter your email for viruses and Spam onlne before it is delivered to your mail box. A a fully managed system with your own control panel, quarantine box, white and blacklists etc.

Additional POP3 mail accounts

Toucan Internet can provide additional email POP3 accounts. This allows you to queue some of your email in a separate queue to be downloaded independently. You could therefore have an email address office2@yourdomain.co.uk as a different POP3 account, allowing your two offices to collect email independently.

Other custom email services are available to match individual requirements such as mail stores for email collection by Lotus ccMail using finger command and SMTP.
