On Tuesday 24th there was an outage in a data center in LA that supports part of email filtering service we provide. This outage was rectified within a couple of hours. The net result of this outage was that the filtering effectiveness was impaired during that period and customers will have noticed that more Spam will have been received over subsequent days.

The issue is fully resolved and service should is back at 100%.

There is the need for essential maintenance on Toucan’s servers and we have this scheduled for 19:00 on Friday 20th April. This will affect all websites and POP3 & IMAP email accounts. Hosted MS Exchange clients will not be affected.

Inbound mail to POP3 & IMAP accounts should be queued and delivered when services resume. Outbound mail services using Toucan’s SMTP servers will not be available during the maintenance period.

Whilst any service outage is to be avoided, the maintenance required determines that the server must go off line to be completed properly.

The maintenance period is expected to last no longer than three hours.

When available, updates on the progress of this maintenance will be made via Toucan’s service notification Twitter feed; follow tistatus.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. The result of this maintenance will be to your benefit in the form of greater server resources and greater service resilience.

Services re-established and server under watch. All systems report 100% OK. Downtime was approximately 40 mins.
